The Berlin State Administration confirmed that an external cyberattack compromised parts of its state network after attackers allegedly exploited a vulnerability in the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing. That department and the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment were isolated from the network and taken offline to prevent further damage. Highly sensitive data may have been exfiltrated, although the type and volume remain unknown. The threat actor has not been identified, and the incident is being investigated by the Berlin State Criminal Police Office, Public Prosecutor’s Office, and Federal Office for Information Security.
